educationaLinux 2003: a special opportunity for Australian Schools!

With our roster of speakers now essentially complete, educationaLinux is pleased to announce the inaugural Australian mini-conference on Linux in Education!

The educationaLinux mini-conference is a two-day prelude (20-21 January 2003) to the world reknowned Linux Conference Australia (LCA2003). educationaLinux 2003 arrives at an excellent time, hot on the heels of several important announcements on the subject by leading Australian political figures. There are also many subtle traps in selecting and purchasing equipment and software for schools, which educationaLinux 2003 will help you to avoid.

educationaLinux 2003 offers you a unique opportunity to find out about specific uses of Open Source software and particularly Linux in your school. There will be educational experts from across Australia and around the world presenting and attending, and a Who's Who of leading Linux lights gathering for the main conference. There will be informal birds-of-a-feather (BOF) meetings and a round-table to wind up educationaLinux before the conference proper.

Conference Content

This is a technical conference, not a trade show, so a presentation which is essentially a product demo for your company is not appropriate, but a presentation about publicly available technology of which your product is one example is fine, provided that you really are addressing the technology and not a particular product. If you want to promote a particular product or company, talk to us about sponsorship. educationaLinux itself (like the other minconferences) is essentially being run without a budget - zero dollars, pretty much unique for any kind of conference - riding on the coat-tails of LCA2003.

Booking to Attend

You must be registered with the main (LCA2003) conference to attend, and have chosen accomodation if necessary, and you will need to notify us of your plans to attend (seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis).

If it is the success that we're expecting, educationaLinux will at least become a permanent adjunct to LCA, and/or possibly become a conference in its own right.

About LCA2003

educationaLinux is also yet another good reason to come to LCA2003. It's going to be a great show, and Perth is one of the better places in the world to hold a conference, with great climate but city convenience and something to see and do for all kinds of tourists if you're interested in dallying afterwards.

LCA ends on Australia Day, with the annual Sky Show fireworks, which is personally attended by over 10% of Perth's population, and eagerly watched by many of the rest from vantage points across the city. LCA2003 really does end with a bang!
